THERE GROWS THE NEIGHBORHOOD

In 2022, the collective works of Sweet Water Foundation became that which you cannot undo.

The Sweet Water Foundation team started 2022 by honing in on the 3 Rs of Regenerative Neighborhood Development - Routine, Ritual, and Reflection - with a focus on rooting our practice in a way that cannot be unraveled. We [re]constructed Civic Arts Church into a dynamic arts + culture space, continued to cultivate and transform The Commonwealth, and engaged learners and leaders across the country via SWF's Communiversity and the Values-Based Partners network.

The Sweet Water Foundation Team + Family is grateful for the generosity of our Supporters + Partners, who shared their time and financial, material, and professional resources to make our work possible!

We invite you to click below to view the 2022 Annual Summary...and hope that you'll join us in 2023 as we commence a new reality. Sweet Water Foundation looks forward to building beyond The Commonwealth in 2023 through a series of installations in 2023, while remaining firmly rooted in our practice and values, as we will formally launch arts + culture programming in Civic Arts Church, welcome new students through The Communiversity, and continue building The Commonwealth.

What's Happening at The Commonwealth?

Sankofa Living Memories Series

Join us virtually on Friday, February 10, 17, & 24 for our Sankofa Living Memories Series. In celebration of Black History Month, Sweet Water Foundation is embracing the practice of Sankofa, reaching back to the knowledge and wisdom of the past and bringing it into the present in order to build a more radical and imaginative future.

The Sankofa Living Memories Series is an ongoing series designed to uplift the wisdom of elders and ancestors and share and preserve their memories and practices. The series also seeks to disrupt and reconstruct traditional historical preservation methods to amplify the rich African American heritage and history in our midst.

More details to come.
